This week in class we are discussing power point presentations. I have done power points before so I feel fairly confident doing one for class. I have never added music before though which may be a challenge. Hopefully I will be able to do it because sometimes I am computer illiterate. Hopefully by doing these projects I will know how to use power points even better.
I think power point is helpful in the classroom because you can put notes on them for a lesson and put pictures to emphasize your point. I think that it is a good idea to show your students how to do power points because when they get older they will probably have to do them for class. It would be a good idea to show them proper procedures such as not reading directly off the slide, which a lot of people make the mistake of doing. Even a lot of people in college that I went to school with made this mistake. I think it is a good idea to show students how to use them even if they are not going to use them that often.

It has been fun putting audio with PowerPoint. This, too, is something that will be useful in the future. Technology has definitetly changed the dynamics of the classroom. Teachers have no excuse for not being creative with their lessons!!
I look forward to working with you on our midterm project. I am sure that Smartboards might seem challenging to learn at first but I know that each of us will someday be using one in our classrooms, if not already.
Have a wonderful week.
I know I will want to use power point in my classroom someday. I think this is a good way for children to learn. Children now are more eager to learn if they are able to put pictures to words.
I agree with you Paige, teachers do need to be taught how to properly use PowerPoint. In undergrad courses, I found that teachers still often just read from slides that were actually published on the internet. Why would a student be interested in coming to class if nothing but the published slides was shown in class??? PowerPoint should be used as a tool more often, but only in the appropriate manner.
